Where to start to get a Picture Perfect Wedding!
From our recent survey, quite some brides came to us and asked the question “How can I make my wedding picture perfect”? As a wedding stylist, let us tell you a few tips to begin with and clear some mysteries!
These two photos were taken at the same apartment but present two completely different vibes. One being bridal and feminine and one being ultra intimate, private and homey. As we are talking about making the wedding picture-perfect, the photographer search should be among your TOP PRIORITIES.
Learn about your style
Family and friends might recommend Photographer A or Photographer B. Photographer C might be offering a time-sensitive package which was pretty attractive. It is a great way to seek recommendations via word-of-mouth, but do remember not to dive straight into a purchase without any second thoughts.
Go through the recommended list, Google or IG or simply Browse through Wedding Blogs and Start to jot down the similarities and observations for the images which catch your eye.
Why do these images look beautiful to you - was it because they are bright and airy? Or was it because they are moody and dramatic? Were these nicely posed photos? Or were these candid and genuine shots? Determine your style preferences and Learning what you like lay a good foundation to create beautiful pictures which suit your sense of aesthetics.
2. Schedule a meeting
Once you have shortlisted a few photographers based on style (and maybe pricing), try to get in touch, provide your name, details of the wedding and ask for their availability.
For those who are available on your wedding date, request a face-to-face meeting, or a Skype call if they are not based in your area. When you get to meet and talk with them directly, it gives you a better idea whether you’d like to spend your big day with them. Through this kind of communication, you’d also learn whether the photographer can make you both feel at ease. It is SO IMPORTANT to choose someone you trust and you’re comfortable with.
3. Ask Questions!
Try to ask for photos or galleries of weddings they have done before - there you get to see a full picture of how their work is throughout the big day - from getting ready to details/ still life shots to portraits to ceremony to dinner reception, rather than seeing just a glimpse or two on social media.
Also, see whether the couples whom they shot looked natural, and genuinely in love. Do the couples look stiff and uneasy? Are emotions being conveyed via the photos? Does the beauty of the bride being captured and presented via the photographer’s lens?
Last but not least, simply ask them questions which are deemed important to you! Share your concerns and learn how they would handle it.
Final Word - discuss with your hubby-to-be on the feelings you both have towards the photographer. Do you both love his or her work? And do you connect well with him/ her? Hope this serves as a good start to plan a picture-perfect wedding, and helps you make a more informed decision!
