How to pick the Right Bouquet for your Picture Perfect Wedding?

Imagine when you walk down the aisle and all eyes are on you - with the perfect gown and the perfect bouquet in hand, walking gracefully to the love of your life! Your bouquet should fit you in every way - it is not just a piece of accessory on your big day, it is a piece of art that allows you to express all your sentiments and your style! So this time, let us talk about how to come up with the right bouquet for you for such an important moment!

  1. Do these before working on your bouquet
It is best to start thinking of your bouquet after you have confirmed the venue, the mood, the ceremony setting and your gown, such that the blooms can perfectly infuse and blend into the event’s aesthetics.

  2. Be inspired by your mood, your color palette and your venue
If your wedding will taken place by the sea, you might want to add a touch of blue sweet peas in the bouquet or a long blue silk ribbon to match the vibe. If you are thinking of doing a classic and timeless wedding, white colored flowers or lily of the valley offer good inspirations. See the two bouquets below taken by Oliver Fly Photography, they were made for the same client but in a different town with different settings. The picture on the right evoked a feeling of the blooms being freshly picked in the wild while the picture on the left is a more delicate and structured bouquet with stems neatly cut at the bottom.

3. Bouquet shapes and sizes matter too!
Depending on your gown’s fabric, ornaments, and style, the bridal bouquet can be arranged to complement with your dream dress. Gowns with long trains do match well with elaborate designs. It is also important to take into account the bride’s proportions. I am rather petite that I specifically asked me wedding florist to make me a smaller bouquet that it would not overwhelming for my size.

4. Think of the season of your event
Consider the season of your photo shoot or event. Flowers in season look the best and they are cost effective! Peony’s season is rather short, from late spring to early summer while roses are pretty much all year round. Bear in mind the climate is also a determining factor too! If you are getting married in Bali or Phuket or very hot areas, try to find flowers that can withstand the heat for a longer period of time.
